Can an employer pay a portion of an employee’s individual health insurance premium?
No, an employer can not pay a portion of an employee’s individual health insurance premium. The employee retains the responsibility for paying their insurance premiums, but they will be reimbursed for their premiums once the expense has been adjudicated. Essentially this allows employees to obtain their own health care insurance and have the option to pay for it on a pre-tax basis through payroll.
